Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
– Luke 18:27
On Saturday, Munro and I ran the Women’s Distance Festival 5k together at Monument Valley Park. I’ve run lots of 5ks but this one was pretty significant for me. It was my first race since developing a back injury in October 2013. At the beginning of this year I really didn’t believe I would be back to running this soon. I was living with a lot of pain! But after 8 weeks training I finished! Munro ran with me the whole way for moral support. He’s pretty amazing.
Without telling you all the details of the past 6 months since moving to Colorado Springs, I’ll try to be brief. We started attending this amazing church, Charis Christian Center, in December last year. Since going, we’ve learned the truth about what the Bible saying about healing. Through prayer and changing the way I believed, I started seeing manifestations of God’s healing power in my body. My pain lessened and I was able to take short hikes. Food sensitivities and the IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) I had all my life disappeared. The anxiety I dealt with also left and I threw away my emergency stash of Xanax (I used for panic attacks if needed). I started standing on God’s word for complete healing because I knew he wanted me to start running again.
Some of the scriptures I stood on and continue to read over myself are:
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” – 1 Peter 2:24
“Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:4-5
“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
If you want to learn more about the healing Jesus provided for you on the cross, I really recommend reading “God Wants You Well” by Andrew Wommack. It explains a lot of these truths that I won’t go into here.
Here are some more pictures from the race. It certainly wasn’t my fastest race, but considering the amount of time I gave myself to train and that I haven’t run in over 3 years, I was just really happy I finished! And I totally plan on doing another one this summer.
Praise the Lord for His healing power!
